🇬🇹🇸🇻🤝🇭🇹 — Seventy-five Guatemalan soldiers and eight from El Salvador arrived in Port-au-Prince aboard a U.S. military aircraft to join the multinational security support force operating in Haiti since late June.

💥 These soldiers have arrived at a critical time, as the Haitian National Police and multinational forces deploy multiple strategies to dismantle armed gangs in both Port-au-Prince and Artibonite.

❗️ The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that nearly 11,000 people have fled their homes in Haiti's capital following recent attacks by armed gangs in the Poste Marchand neighborhood and surrounding areas, not far from the National Palace.

Which is the Turkish-Italian TULPAR light tank /multipurpose vehicles. The issue came up also today at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs' weekly press briefing.

A journalist asked indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal what India's steps would be in this regard, to which he replied, "India always keeps a close eye on security issues and takes appropriate measures."

🇬🇹🇸🇻🇭🇹 Military police, soldiers from Guatemala, and El Salvador arrive in Haiti to help fight gangs - Miami Herald

They arrived in Port-au-Prince on Friday to join the armed international security mission in the country’s fight against terrorizing gangs.

The 83 security personnel that arrived included an advance team of eight soldiers from El Salvador and the first 75 of 150 military police officers from Guatemala. While the Salvadorans will be providing casualty and medical evacuations in support of the Kenya-led mission.

In preparation for the additional boots on the ground, the Biden administration has flown at least 22 flights into Haiti in the past month with much needed equipment for the Haitian police and the Kenyan mission including armored vehicles.

The Central Americans will now join 416 police officers and military soldiers from Kenya, Jamaica, The Bahamas, and Belize. They are expected to be joined by other personnel in the coming days, including the remaining 75 Guatemalans who have been deployed to join the U.N. mission

U.S. State Department Spokesman: "We are also pursuing the government of Haiti’s request to transition the MSS into a UN peacekeeping effort, so the support of the MSS mission is —can ultimately be sustained over a long term. And ultimately, our hope is that it paves the way to security conditions that result in holding free and fair elections.”
