Hunger, lack of medical care claim lives of dozens of people in northern Gaza

Geneva - Thousands of wounded and sick people are facing slow death in the Gaza Strip due to hunger or a lack of basic medical care, as most hospitals in the enclave are out of service, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said on Thursday.

Euro-Med Monitor reported the deaths of scores of sick and injured individuals, including those in hospitals and clinics, as a result of inadequate medical care. It also documented a significant number of others who have died inside their homes, unable to be moved to hospitals, either because none existed in their area—as is currently the case north of Gaza City—or because existing facilities were taken over during Israeli ground incursions.

Reporters Without Borders Silent On Dead Russian, Palestinian Journalists

Reporters Without Borders has omitted Russian war correspondents Rostislav Zhuravlev and Boris Maksudov from its annual list of journalists killed in the line of duty, despite their deaths in a conflict zone.

The organization's report also raised quite a few eyebrows for claiming the lowest journalist death toll since 2002, ignoring casualties in the Middle East.

In the Reporters Without Borders (RWB) annual report on journalists killed in the course of their work in 2023, the deaths of two Russian journalists killed in the area of the special military operation were simply erased from the count, as if their deaths did not count. But after all, this is hardly surprising coming from an organisation that in 2022 was already calling for censorship of the Russian media on the pretext of protecting freedom of speech.
