This letter shows a list of Texas Children’s Pediatrics doctors who are now refusing to treat patients who are not fully vaccinated according to the CDC’s definition of fully vaccinated. This means children will be refused treatment by these doctors if they have not had a list of about 30 shots by age 6 including an annual flu shot starting at 6 months (CDC guidance).

This update comes after their practice “experienced an increase in the number of parents refusing vaccinations that are recommended by the CDC and the AAP,” according to the letter.

I reached out to Texas Children’s Hospital for clarity. A spokeswoman told me, “This policy only applies to some Texas Children’s Pediatrics practices not Texas Children’s Hospital locations.” She added: “Texas Children’s Pediatrics also provides access to providers who will care for unvaccinated patients, offers information regarding the safety and efficacy of vaccines and provides patient families with time to determine whether they will consent to vaccination.“

The doctors wrote that they will only require proof of vaccine for children who don’t have a medical condition that precludes them from vaccination.
