One of the things that makes it so amazing that some people still feel communism is a good idea is the constant "law of unintended consequences" that you see as a result of commies putting people in charge who've never been in charge of any real life function before.

Example:
The genius commies from the Soviet Era of Lenin & Stalin felt central planning was a good idea. And why not? If you want a government to control the means of production, they have to tell people what to produce and how much.

But they forgot to factor in human behavior, especially the capitalistic tendency that is ingrained into every human to get the most out of whatever you do.

The central planners simply gave quotas of goods that needed to be built.

They did not, however, specify the quality needed, so they ended up with poorly constructed goods that were often unusable and led to shoddy infrastructure.

To take an example from China, consider the one child policy.

They initially thought it would be a great tool to help end poverty and starvation by lowering the birth rate.

They didn't consider their own culture, which led to tens of millions of baby girls being aborted, given away or killed as newborns.

Now they have an estimated 150 million more men than women in their country, which will not end well for them.

Commies: you can't live with them, you can't kill them.

Let's revisit the second part at another time.

Basically, McConnell knows that Pence had the authority to return the contested votes to the states under the Electoral College Act.
