Consider everything that could have a political bent this year as likely propaganda, from both sides.

If you're listening to someone/something that gets your rankles up, it probably is just that.

Learn to listen to even-handed, rational, non-hyperbolic people.

It may be painful due to personal cognitive dissonance, but it's the only way to understand the playing field.

This is a great example of voices to listen to. No anger or sunshine, rainbows, and unicorn farts.

Just "what is."

Silly Beast, that's the State Department's job! Those gender studies majors aren't gonna let you get in the way of their college loan debts being forgiven.
The Shitshow Macro Weekly Wrapup Podcast for Friday May 31, 2024 is out:

Domestic:
-NY jury finds Trump guilty on all 34 counts on Thursday. On what charges? Nobody knows - and the judge told the jury that it didn’t even matter.
--Trump raised $35mm after the verdict was handed down, and had raised nearly $60mm by Friday evening. --Even a NY Mag writer who used to work for NY DA Bragg penned in article saying that it was a bad idea, and many (except the total zealots) agreed.
--Polling showed that Trump also received a 6-point bump in national support after the verdict.

-OpenAI (maker of ChatGPT) revealed on Thursday that they have caught Chinese, Russian, Iranian, and other agents using their technology in attempts to sway US public opinion domestically and abroad. The company has shut down the accounts that it caught, finding that they were using generated videos, pictures, and text for propaganda & stoking division purposes.

-A 5-alarm fire at Farina Farms in Illinois on Friday has killed millions of chickens at one of the nation’s largest free-range egg facilities. This should be in the “war” section if we’re being honest.

-Hundreds of pro-Hamas protestors stormed the Brooklyn Museum on Friday to show their support for the Middle Eastern terror group.

-The Trump campaign Missippi finance director gave an interview this week where he said that some wealthy donors are afraid to donate to Trump because they think the FBI will come knocking at the door.
--Telling that the guy giving the interview is also a former Governor. Not a healthy sign for a functioning non-banana republic.

-James Biden’s former business partner pleaded guilty to a $51mm healthcare scam this week.

War/Military:
-Erik Prince posted 2 more videos on his Off Leash YouTube show/podcast taking aim at the NeoCons and how they’ve screwed the pooch on everything they’ve touched. Video links in the show notes.
--I’ll also include 3 interviews that Tucker Carlson recently did that echo this very same sentiment but from different angles & backgrounds: Erik Prince, Jeffrey Sachs, and Dave Smith.

-The Houthis downed their 9th US MQ-9 Reaper drone this week.
--No word on whether it’s in direct retaliation or not, but the US launched its first targeted airstrikes on Houthi targets in 3 months this week as well.

-In the week since the Iranian president’s helo went down, Iran has stepped up attacks by its proxies on Israeli interests in Europe, South America, and the Middle East.
--There were multiple attacks on Israeli embassies this week, as close to home as Mexico City.

-Biden, France, Poland, Germany, and others reportedly gave UKR the “green light” to launch missile attacks deep into RUS territory this week.
--A RUS think tank (Council for Foreign and Defense Policy) that advises Putin has suggested that he launch a “demonstrative nuclear demo” to send a message to NATO in response.
--This comes as RUS troops spent the week doing exercises across their border with tactical nukes.

-Researchers at UC Berkley discovered a Chinese dataset that included 608 oblique and satellite images of US Navy and other allied destroyers and frigates. Why are we still giving them student visas when we know about the Thousand Talents Program?

-Pro-Palestine activists in Scotland broke into the facilities of Leonardo (the largest EU defense contractor) this week and cut their internet cables.

Markets/economics:
-Japan (BOJ) admitted this week that they used a $62bn injection into their market to try to prop up the Yen earlier in the month. The USD/JPY is right back up to 157, however.

-The Fed has come out and admitted that the banking crisis from late last year was far worse than they admitted publicly. 20 banks needed cash infusions, and was the reason they created the Bank Term Funding Program.

-The EU began talking about lowering its rates this week, decoupling from the Federal Funds Rate (US Fed). If you don’t understand why this is a big deal, read my post Is The Fed Battling the EU Tyrants?
