Markets/economics:
-ZeroHedge article: restaurant apocalypse. Rubio’s shutting down in CA, Applebees, Boston Market, McDonald’s 1-month $5 meal stopgap. All signs of downstream Bidenomics effects.
--Rubio’s specifically cited the high cost of doing business in California as the reason for shutting down 48 stores on Friday.

-Jim Rickards gave an interview last week outlining why M2 makes it looks like gold could go to $27k and how the USGOV seizing RUS treasuries would lead to a disaster. Interview link in the show notes.

-A Bloomberg article from Sunday is reporting that all of the key drivers of consumer spending are losing steam at once.

-Barron’s magazine released a photo of its June 3, 2024 issue that indicates an interview with Fed chair Powell and an indication that he doesn’t have plans to cut rates this year.

-The FDIC’s “problem banks” list has grown from 52 to 63.5 banks with assets totalling $82.1bn. How do you get a half of a bank?

-I mentioned the BRICs nations moving away from USDs and to gold on Friday. It looks like India has transferred 100 tonnes of its gold reserves from the UK back to India for the first time since 1991.
--These are the downstream effects of NATO posturing that it will jack people’s stuff.

Business:
-If you’re one of the GME “diamond hands,” Roaring Kitty just updated his trades for the first time in months and it seems his GME position is north of $100mm.

Geopolitics:
-An Islamist attack in Mannheim, Germany left a police officer dead. The attack was on Friday and has led to some confusion.
--As far as I can tell an anti-Jihadist activist was stabbed in the street, onlookers intervened, and the police stopped those who had stopped the Islamist who was doing the stabbing.
--The Islamist then proceeded to stab the cop as the initial activist who got stabbed was being cuffed on the ground. The Islamist was shot after stabbing the cop.

Social dynamics/societal/culture war/Legal:
-It has started to come out that the NY judge (Merchan) is a family court judge who is only appointed to his position, yet somehow was given the Trump, Bannon, and other political cases.
--Weird, huh? GOP lawmakers have called for an investigation into how something like that happens when judicial cases are supposed to be random.

-There was a confrontation between the pro-Hamas demonstrators and a pride parade in Philly on Sunday. I only saw videos of the initial confrontation and nothing since.

-Many are noticing that the pride logos and “in your face” from corporations has drastically reduced this June 1st. Let’s see if that holds up.

-Trump attended UFC this weekend post-verdict, being ushered in by CEO Dana White to a standing ovation, cheers, and chants of FJB. Multiple fighters paid tribute and went to shake Trump’s hand after their victories.

Conspiracy-y:
You will certainly be called a conspiracy theorist for this, but I’ve been saying it since 2020. Glenn has outlined aspects of this before, but he comes right out and says it, outlining the steps and process in his “Are We In a Color Revolution” special (complete with chalkboard diagrams to explain):

Glenn Beck: Are We In a Color Revolution?

White Pill:
(It won't display on X or Telegram)

Implications:
-The pendulum is swinging back in the other direction on some social issues, which is interesting to watch.

-The NY verdict seems to be backfiring on Democrats bigly. The barking dog that caught the car.

-China did not move on Taiwan in June. Still keeping an eye out.

The Weekly Read (Monday):
The Fourth Turning

One of the many accurate predictions of this book (from back in the 1990s) was that there would be a massive turn against the Baby Boomers when financial calamity struck.

I’m starting to see that grow louder and louder right now, but remember: it’s not your average Boomer who caused these issues, but the ones who wrote the rules, laws, and looked the other way at financial crimes that put us into our current predicament.
Macro takeaways/lessons from the week:
-Big wheels turn slow, and political will is often driven by public perception. From COVID accountability to lawfare and having the whims of 3% of the population shoved down everyone’s throats, it looks like those wheels are moving now.
