👆🏼 Vance just announced as VP, Trump officially given the RNC nomination.
The Shitshow Macro Weekly Prep Pod Mon for 7.15.24 is out:
-The Attempt on Trump post is out for all readers on the Shitshow Macro Sub
-Masks Off, part 3 is now out from behind the paywall and available to all readers. The podcast version will be made available for all tomorrow (Tuesday).
Domestic Politics:
-There was an attempt on Trump’s life via a 20-something shooter in Pennsylvania on Saturday. While the full picture is still emerging, at best the USSS dropped the ball in a major way. At worst, well, let’s not even go there quite yet.
--I’ve got some experience working with the USSS CAT and sniper teams from my MIL days, and several different forms of ADVON and security experience from the private side as well. The Attempt on Trump walks through the “brass tax” of what we know so far and my perspective based on my experience with such things.
--Since I published that yesterday, it has come out that the USSS Director pulled Trump’s normal (seasoned) Secret Service team and sent them to a Jill Biden rally, leaving mostly green newbies. I will add my personal opinion on this decision in the pod, but not in writing. Fair warning, earmuffs.
-JD Vance was announced as the VP candidate for Trump today (Monday). I add some potential investment insights given this decision in the markets section.
-Judge Aileen Canon out of Florida has dismissed the Jack Smith “documents” case against Trump, deeming Smith’s very appointment as an SC to be unconstitutional.
-This seems like forever ago, but it did not make it into Friday’s show: at the end of the NATO summit last week, Biden announced Zelensky as Putin and called Trump his VP.
--Reminder that the “letter from George Clooney” asking Biden to drop out of the race was less than a week ago as well.
-@MikeBenzCyber sat down with former Mumford & Sons musician Winston Marshall for an interview. I watched it in full over the weekend and even put out a post calling out one incredibly important aspect of coverage (that American taxpayers rarely enjoy the fruits of the warfare they fund, although US politicians almost always do, a la the Lindsay Graham comment about $12.4tn of resources in UKR).
--I will link the interview in the show notes, as the entire thing was a master class and worth the watch.
-MSNBC made the decision to pull Morning Joe from the air today. No word on how long it will be for, but the move itself is quite telling, as many pundits have noted.
-The dirty commies are out in full force at the RNC convention in Milwaukee. @MrAndyNgo has video of one of their speakers (leaders?) giving others the green light to riot. Video link in the show notes.
War/Military:
-The most senior Hamas leader to date has been smoked by the IDF. Largely known as the military commander and “The Man with Nine Lives” due to multiple attempts to take him out in the past (one of which killed his wife and children), this man has been an HVT on Israel’s list for years.
-It is being reported that the US is now sending or considering sending Paladin missile systems to Germany, as another move to counter RUS.
Science/Health:
-Vax attorney @AaronSiriSG released another testimony video of former CDC Director Redfield saying that the USGOV underreported side effects to prevent hesitancy. In my personal opinion, that should be freaking criminal.
Markets/economics:
-I like listening to insights that may disprove my own assertions/beliefs, and I got hit with another one regarding the Bank of Japan and their stance on the Yen’s trajectory and the USDJPY pair.
--The hedge fund investor and anon X user Le Shrub sat down for The End Game with Grant Williams and explained that he thinks the BOJ’s interventions are to punish speculators.
--I’m going to have to marinate on that and look at the currency with that null hypothesis in mind. Interview link in the show notes so that you can consider it for yourself.
