-I mentioned that I would discuss the JD Vance VP pick here, and that may have sounded odd to some. It only clicked for me when I found out that Vance is the author of Hillbilly Elegy.
--If you don’t know, this was the first book (that I know of) that “mainstreamed” the destruction that opiates like Oxycontin were having on various parts of the US, especially Appalachia, the Rust Belt, West Virginia, and Ohio where Vance is from.
--If that is a foreshadowing that a Trump presidency 2.0 would put an intense focus on revitalizing US manufacturing and blue-collar jobs, looking into infrastructure and commodities (needed to build/power said infrastructure) may be a wise investment thesis to start to form.
--OH Gov Dewine has been a massive disappointment to many conservatives there, but if he ended up putting Vivek Ramaswamy into JD’s senate seat (that he will have to leave to take the VP role), I just might pee my pants out of excitement. Yes, I am in my mid-40s, but I really like Vivek and what he brings to the table.
-While it’s not wise to make any kind of determination too quickly in these batshit markets, an IWM (small caps) liftoff today, Cathie Wood from ARKK stated that her investors losing money is a good thing, actually, and NVDA and other tech stocks hitting some turbulence last week, the cyclical thesis for sector rotation is getting stronger by the day.
-The real estate market continues to get worse, a ton of homes are still under construction, and lumber prices continue to collapse. I started telling you in December that the time to sell your home was nearly over, and I hope you listened if you were of the need to do so. This may be rocky for a while.
-The 3-month yield has dropped to its lowest level since 2023 in expectation of rate cuts given the softening economic and jobs data.
-I’m a macro econ/finance nerd, so I’ve had the Treasury yield rates USGOV page bookmarked since my MBA. We had a former Fed officer prof who taught us the importance of using yields to forecast oncoming economic issues, and I have used this bookmark often. -Rabobank released another market note that seems to indicate the wind is in Trump’s sails. Their analysts note that the attempted assassination will require the DNC to focus on Biden’s admin successes rather than attacks against Trump. Without saying as much, this leaves team Biden without a leg to stand on.

I included a bit on the Accelerationist movement in the last section of my The Attempt on Trump post, and it’s an incredibly important issue that most have no clue about, and can be quite difficult to unpack.
As I said in the post, the Batman quote that, “Some people just want to watch the world burn” is a perfect brief summary of what Accelerationists are, but the TTPs they use are more nefarious than most movie supervillains.
The tenuous connections they have to US intelligence, satanic and neo nazi groups, and convincing teens to either mutilate and self-harm or go out and harm others (several mass shootings with links to 764 and O9A) is extremely disturbing.
While the Accelerationist movement itself is stateless, non-ideological, and non-partisan (true anarchy and societal downfall is their ultimate goal), many of the intelligence think tank crowd have hijacked research and white papers on the subject, trying to add a very partisan bent to it that does not exist, but allows for quite a bit of USGOV funding in the current “demonize white people and Trump supporters” environment.
Ken Silva of Headline USA is one of the few in media who has been reporting on this movement, and he has a recent article out that points out some of the worrisome “markers” that the would-be Trump assassin has of the classic Accelerationist members or marks:

Implications:
-Access to information, true SMEs on X & podcasts rather than those the MSM chooses to platform, and a “lifted veil” to the bullshit means that more people are more difficult to propagandize and pull a fast one on than ever before. They will continue to try, however.
-Markets pricing in a Trump win versus the now unmistakable and largely recognized manipulations of the markets by the USGOV. What does that mean for investors? It’s too early to tell.
-It pains me greatly to say this, but living in reality we must recognize the base case that there is likely to be another attempt to get Trump. Many saw this coming and were called conspiracy theorists (of course), and many in the media couldn’t even wait 24 hours to begin ratcheting up the rhetoric again. Someone get that man a trustworthy private security team.

I suggested reading this in The Attempt on Trump post, and I have to re-suggest it. There are a lot of things that have long been considered “debunked conspiracy theories” that seem to have a significant amount of basis in fact, and this book provides quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that one of the big and most widely mocked ones may have been real.
For those of you who don’t know, the CIA has admitted for quite some time now that MK-Ultra was in fact an actual Agency program - it just didn’t get talked much about by the people who most Americans trust to get their news from.
Macro takeaways/lessons for the week:
When people refuse to recognize and accept reality for what it is, sometimes things must get very ugly for the veil of The Great Pretending to be torn away. We have allowed many facets of society to get to the point where frauds, liars, and malcontents prosper. That may be ending in the near future, God willing, but there is probably more ugly required before we get there.
