Hi,

Gramophone will soon drop Android 5.0 and 5.1 support, as Google is deprecating support for these Android versions in the entire ecosystem (AndroidX libraries, media3 libraries, Play Store and Play services updates, other Google app updates) and it will be increasingly hard to support new Android versions (Android 17) with outdated libraries.

If you are an affected Android 5.x user, please let me know (in our chat @FoedusDiscussion) so that I can decide whether to keep support for a longer time (until I have a good reason I need to upgrade libraries) or if nobody is actually using it.

According to Play Store, there is currently 1 user using Android 5.0 and 9 users using Android 5.1

Hey guys, just want to let you guys know I'm back at the development of accord. My sincere apologies for the half of the overall development. As we all know making a music player requires a lot of effort (A LOT, yes) than other types of apps, so please wait patiently while I'm cooking something good. I might send some experiment packages in our discussion, so feel free to join and chat. A fully usable and functional package won't come any sooner but I'll try my best to deliver the finest product when it's available :)

And for those who are still wondering, this app is a full view based app. I didn’t switch to compose because of its notorious performance problems. And don’t be sad if you think there won’t be fancy animations, I’m adding them myself. Almost all views in the player page are handwritten custom view components so it’s taking longer time than expected, so please please wait patiently!!

Google made something terrible:

If you ever coded an android app, then in .idea/deploymenttargetselector.xml there will be your serial number of your phone connected to your android studio.

Now comes the best part: It's not included in .gitignore.

We have seen people's location getting leaked for using OEM android systems that comes with location tracker. And all you need to track the phone is the serial number.

Now look at github and you will be amazed at how much serial numbers are there on the internet.
