The House passed the Kayla Hamilton Act on Tuesday, legislation named after 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton, who was brutally raped and murdered in 2022 by an illegal immigrant MS-13 gang member from El Salvador who entered as an unaccompanied minor.

The bill seeks to strengthen screening and placement rules for unaccompanied migrant minors to prevent such tragedies.
