"The Plan"
I have about 1000 contacts in my phone. Every so often I remove someone because they have completed their life.
How often should this happen?
Well, about one person in fifty thousand passes away each day on average, so it should be about once every other month.
But it seems far less than this (and it probably is), because the average age of the folks in my contacts list is middle-aged, where the odds are far lower (5x).
Still, even a couple per year is sad.
This was not God's plan for us! And he has established a strategy for our Redemption:
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
- Romans 6:23
Thinking about death is unpleasant, but death reminds us that life is precious and short, and that there is a bigger plan in place.
Embrace the Plan!

What a great nine days in California!
Just imagine... teams of canvassers finding fraud in dozens of counties in the coming weeks.
The place is on fire!
California currently does not have a republican form of government, they have a tyranny. But the grassroots is addressing this.
And they sure do have great avocados!

"A Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara"
The last venue on my recent California tour in California was at a Presbyterian church. Like so many PCUSA churches across the nation, it has lost members to the point that it is no longer viable. I spoke to the church secretary while there, and she proudly informed me that the small remaining body had just voted unanimously to leave the denomination.
Too little, too late. They should have left the PCUSA years ago while they were still viable. About a third of the PCUSA churches in that region separated years ago.
The PCUSA is apostate, so congregations have been abandoning it in droves, and many that remain are dwindling away.
Being in the building felt strange to me, because I left my twenty-year music director job at a PCUSA church in Cincinnati a few years ago because I could no longer abide the evil that was thriving there.
Of course, I was "following the data," showing the leadership graphs of our decline, encouraging them to reform, but they were having none of it, even accusing me of manipulating the data... their own data. Numbers don't lie.
Sound familiar?
And like the Santa Barbara church, my former congregation is dwindling, just like I predicted. And since the Cincinnati Presbytery has already robbed it of its endowment funding, it is only a matter of time until it is also no longer viable.
Good riddance.
Evil must not be tolerated, and God will not bless a "church" where the leaders are embarrassed of the Gospel.

"45 Raid"
A friend asked me what I thought of the recent raid of our real president's home.
Nothing surprises me anymore, and things are gonna get uglier before they get better.
Because the enemies of liberty are not going to relinquish their stranglehold on our country without a fight.
And they play dirty.
Every legislature in our country is failing us, and is dominated by traitors who see individual liberty as a threat to their power.
They hate our country and its real president.
Their poor behavior is hastening the day when We The People will prosecute them for their war crimes.
We the People are steadily waking up. Kicking us just makes the alarm clock sound louder.

"Col. Helen Colley"
Today, I mourn the passing of a dear friend and patriot, Col. Helen Colley. "A full-bird colonel" as she used to put it, Helen served our country in the Air Force with honor and distinction during the Korea and Vietnam years.
My children grew up in her shadow at church, where she attended faithfully and stood up for conservative Christian values. She was smart and quick-witted, and gave her opinions without hesitation.
Our family 'rescued' her from a long-term health facility during Covid, and she lived with us for an extended time until her cancer demanded more consistent attention than we could provide in our home.
I will never forget the day we rescued her. When she walked in the front door we embraced, and I asked her how the trip was. Her eyes filled with tears, and she said, "I had salsa."
Helen said that her military training had served her well during her eighteen month "prison sentence" in isolation in an extended care facility.
I am ashamed at how our country has treated our elderly during this time of crisis. But that discussion is for another day.
Today I mourn, but still celebrate the completion of a life well-lived.
Rest well, Helen. And give Jesus a hug for us.

I did a calculation in 1982 that showed that LED bulbs would be about twenty times more efficient at light production than incandescent bulbs. So I always suspected that our culture would migrate to them.
They should also last much longer. But every time I return home it seems that are several of them burned out, and Nellie walks me through the house pointing each one of them out until I replace them.
Nellie is the lightbulb police.

When I was in Oregon recently, I was struck by the pall of depression that loomed over the state. The citizens there feel like they have no recourse, and are subject to the whims of a government that does not represent their interests.
They are trying to pass a citizen's statewide initiative to eliminate mail-in voting.
Except...
You can't fix broken elections with broken elections.
Like the recent California recall "election." What a joke.
The course of action with the most probability of success centers on local control and careful monitoring of every ballot.
There are also uglier ways.
But I prefer citizen engagement. It's time for "We the People" to wake up and reclaim our birthright.
