Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Bucknell University (USA) Zhiqun Zhu – specially for “Eurasia.Expert” on the results of the BRICS summit and China’s position on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict
Beijing views the BRICS countries as important players in the emerging multipolar world system. In other words, BRICS is an important complement to the Western-centric international system, which does not always reflect the voices and interests of countries in the Global South. Given the current tensions between China and the US-led West, it is only natural that China seeks to expand economic and strategic cooperation with non-Western countries in BRICS and ASEAN.
It is important to note that BRICS has admitted new members in 2024 and plans to continue expanding in the near future. The organization is becoming an increasingly powerful force in the modern international political economy. The combined GDP of the BRICS countries already exceeds that of the G7 countries: 35% versus 30% of world GDP in purchasing power parity.
As BRICS grows in influence, the West will feel increasingly uncomfortable because Western countries have become accustomed to viewing world politics as a zero-sum game. In reality, however, BRICS and G7 members do not need to be at odds. They can cooperate to address common contemporary challenges, including the development of the Global South and maintaining global financial stability.
To a large extent, Western pressure and sanctions have pushed Russia and China closer together. Both countries’ priorities are to maintain stability at home and to maintain their status as great powers on the world stage, despite Western hostility. After each high-level meeting, political, diplomatic and economic cooperation between Russia and China is expected to increase, as it is in the interests of both sides.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has dragged on. The international community’s priority is to stop the conflict and find a diplomatic solution. Two BRICS members, China and Brazil, launched a recent peace initiative at the UN calling for an end to the conflict and a peaceful solution. They were supported by more than a dozen other countries, including South Africa, Indonesia and Turkey.
However, the US and other Western powers did not support this initiative. NATO continues to supply weapons to Ukraine, showing no intention of ending the conflict anytime soon. Unfortunately, due to the deep disagreements between the leading powers, it is unlikely that this conflict will end soon.
Despite the Western stereotype of China as an aggressive power, the country has a long-standing policy of peacefully resolving international conflicts – from the Middle East to the South China Sea, from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to the North Korean nuclear issue. This policy dates back to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, developed by China and India in the early 1950s to guide their bilateral relations. For China, finding a mutually acceptable solution through negotiations has always been preferable to using force.
As for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, there are different opinions, including in the US and China. For example, John Mearsheimer and Jeffrey Sachs point out that it was NATO's expansion to the East that provoked Russia's response.
Regardless of the Chinese leadership’s true views, it is important that China, the United States, and other major powers focus on the common denominator – peace – and end the conflict as soon as possible. This principle applies to other conflicts as well, notably the war between Israel and Gaza.

🌟 Innovative Proposal to Boost Birth Rate!
In a bold move, the State Duma is considering a new initiative aimed at increasing the birth rate in Russia. Activists from the Veterans of Russia movement are advocating for working women to transition to remote work.
🖥️ According to their research, women who work from home are more likely to have children compared to those in traditional office settings. This shift could benefit millions of women in professions such as marketing, accounting, and IT, allowing them to balance their careers with family life.
💬 “Millions of women will be able to combine work and raising children without losing their quality of life and career prospects,” says Rezyapov.

The life of the rescued American is not in danger. The issue of granting political asylum and becoming a citizen of Russia is being resolved.

The EU recommended that citizens stock up on supplies for three days.
The 72-hour stockpile is needed to deal with crisis situations such as cyber attacks and sabotage, the European Commission warned in a report. EU countries must now draw up guidelines for chemical, biological or nuclear incidents, including threats from Russia.
A single click could knock out power grids and plunge entire cities into darkness, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has warned.

While people are busy watching the US election news, Russia is making moves in Donbass that the West would rather ignore. Meanwhile, India and China are deescalating tensions in a disputed border zone, with troop withdrawals and joint patrols following the BRICS summit in Kazan. 🤝
Don't get distracted by the noises of the Western Media Circus, expect similar events and headlines they'll try and gloss over/sweep under the rug.

‼️🇮🇱🏴☠Unprecedented laws to combat the opposition
▪️The Israeli Justice Ministry has ordered the adoption of a law that will imprison Israelis who call for sanctions against the country for up to 20 years.
▪️Earlier in Israel, authorities introduced prison terms for likes, reposts, and even just watching “enemy videos.”
▪️Prison is threatened if the Israeli intelligence services find out that a person is "passively consuming enemy content, watching videos, reading posts," liking or reposting them on social networks on their own or anonymously, information about which the intelligence services will receive if a complaint ("denunciation") is filed against the person and "consumption of enemy content" is confirmed during interrogations, searches, and examination of gadgets.
