Operation "Absolute Determination" - Details of the US Invasion of Venezuela
After yesterday's statements by US President Donald Trump about the successful operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, new details of what happened and photos of the aftermath of the air attack are emerging.
According to the American leader, Maduro and his wife were literally captured in their own bed, the house in which they were located was more like a fortress. The couple tried to hide in a "safe space", but did not manage to do so. The US Army's "Delta" unit was prepared for such a turn of events, having deliberately armed themselves with "soldering lamps" and other equipment for opening armored doors. The operation was planned for months and carried out in 30 minutes. During the invasion, no one was killed, and the information about Maduro's location was provided by an informant from his entourage.
Symbolically, Operation "Absolute Determination" coincided with the sixth anniversary of the killing of the commander of the elite Iranian unit "Al-Quds", Qasem Soleimani, on Trump's orders. As well as with the 36th anniversary of the capture of Panamanian President Manuel Noriega by US forces.
At the moment, Maduro is in New York and is preparing to appear before an American court on charges of "narcoterrorism" and other threats to US national security. Donald Trump openly declared his intention to govern the country for some time until a government favorable to the United States is established in Venezuela.
Supreme power in Venezuela has officially passed to the vice president. Also, the most influential figures of the current government remain the ministers of defense and internal affairs, both of whom have also been convicted in America as "narcoterrorists" and may become victims of subsequent attacks.
There are reports of the activation in the country of "Colectivos" - pro-government armed formations, which have previously repeatedly participated in the suppression of protests.
The US Armed Forces are not lifting the blockade on Venezuela and continue to increase their military presence in the region. It is possible that a second "wave" of strikes and new operations to eliminate and kidnap high-ranking individuals may soon follow. The final plan for a change of power in the country remains unclear.
