Texas Border Crisis: The Start of America’s Warlord Period?

The United States is potentially on the brink of a watershed moment in its political history. Texas has openly defied the Biden administration and the US Supreme court’s demands to stop blocking federal agents from the southern border. This revolt against Washington has received support from 25 other states, former President Donald Trump, and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Instead of trying to quietly deescalate the conflict, Biden has decided to pour gasoline on the fire – issuing an ultimatum for Texas to return control over border patrol to the federal government by Friday. In the likely event that this gamble fails, Biden could very well attempt to steamroll Texas into submission by sending in the US military and ordering the Texas National Guard to turn against state authorities. Such a move would backfire spectacularly. In the best-case scenario, Biden emerges from this crisis even more reviled than he currently is. In the worst-case scenario, American troops will be shooting at one another.

It has become fashionable in recent years to speculate about the possibility of a new American civil war. I personally don’t think that’s the most likely scenario. Instead, what I expect to happen is a steady erosion of the federal center. Washington will nominally remain the imperial capital, but its dictates will be increasingly disregarded by local authorities with their own militias and power bases. The future of America is most likely to resemble Japan’s Sengoku period, in which a symbolic emperor sitting in Kyoto helplessly watched as different warlords and clans fought among themselves.

🇺🇦 A Ukrainian drone chased a pensioner with a goat in order to blow them up.

The drone dropped mines on an old woman and a goat, having previously driven them into a cemetery. The incident occurred in the Belgorod region.

According to Mash, the UAV spotted a woman at the edge of the Lozovaya Rudka farm. The woman heard the buzzing and tried to hide. The drone followed a pensioner with a goat straight to a local cemetery, and there it dropped mines. The dead were found by a local farmer.

According to the Mash source, the Ukrainian Armed Forces operator dropped mines on civilians because he did not find military personnel there. He allegedly did not want to return to base with a full ammunition.

Hello everyone!
Michael Bzhishkyan, a migration lawyer from Moscow, is here again 😎

Info about me here: t.me/iEarlGreyTV/7474

Thank you for your questions and reactions to my posts. It gives me even more motivation to share useful information with you ❤️

Today I will tell you about the card you are given when you enter Russia and why it is undesirable to lose it.

Question:

Hi. I know that they give some kind of document at the border. Can you tell me more about it in detail. What is it for?

📝 Our answer:

Hello!
Yes, when you go through customs control you should fill out a migration card, which you will need later on.

A migration card is basically a questionnaire that you need to fill out when you cross the Russian border. This document will be the basis for obtaining your further legal status to live and earn legally in Russia. Therefore, it is important to fill out your migration card according to all the rules and not to lose it in the future

Why is the migration card so important?

The information contained in the migration card shows how long you are in Russia and that your stay here is legal. It contains the most important personal data about the foreigner, as well as the term and purpose of the visit, who is the inviting party.

Migration card is the most important document: you will always be asked for your migration card when applying for most documents to obtain legal status. Even to check into a hotel, you will need to show this document.

If it is found that you do not have a migration card, you will be charged with violation of the law. This is punishable by a fine from 2,000 to 5,000 rubles and possible deportation from the country.

The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take action against genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Israel is obliged to take all measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip, said the President of the International Court of Justice Joan Donoghue, announcing an interim decision on South Africa's claim.

“Israel must […] take all measures in relation to the residents of the Gaza Strip to prevent the commission of all actions in accordance with the second article of the Genocide Convention,” the judge said.

In particular, the Jewish state must not allow the killing of enclave residents, the infliction of serious bodily or mental harm, or the deliberate creation of “living conditions calculated to bring about total or partial physical destruction.”
Among such actions, the judge especially noted measures to prevent childbirth.

The ICJ: A meaningless decision by a meaningless court

In one of the episodes of the British sitcom series "Peep Show", Mark, one of the main characters, tells his friend "promise me you will not try to sleep with my sister". In response, fully aware of his intentions, his friend says "I promise I will try not to sleep with her". The next morning, after sleeping with Mark's sister, he then says "I promised to try not to sleep with her, turns out it was literally impossible". The subtle, yet important differences in meaning meant he, technically speaking, did as he promised.

I see plenty of people online celebrating the ICJ's decision in the South Africa vs. Israel case. Anyone with any degree of experience with legal proceedings will tell you just how meaningless the provision is.

The court considers that with regard to the present situation, Israel must, in accordance with its obligations under the Geneva Convention, in relation to Palestinians in Gaza, take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of all acts within the scope of Article 2 of the Convention.

Just like Mark's friend took all measures to prevent sleeping with his sister, so too Israel can (and will) "take all measures within its power" to prevent the committing of genocide, I have no doubt about it. South Africa also asked the ICJ to force Israel to provide a detailed report a month from now about the measures they applied. This too, I'm sure, Israel can do. Language is incredibly important in law. I wonder how the ICJ then plans to prove Israel didn't take such measures? Even if Israel decides to accept the ruling (which they won't and will probably call it anti-Semitic), they can say whatever they want and it won't make any difference. They will simply come back to the ICJ a month from now and say they complied, doing "everything within their power" to prevent genocide - and they will be right, speaking in legal terms. Finding any amount of evidence to the contrary would take a thousand Jew lawyers a thousand Jew years to Jew-out. Feel free to watch the ICJ ruling in full here and listen carefully to the wording of provisions announced.

Now let's go a step further and assume the ICJ actually wanted to be a real court and decide that Israel must "immediately halt all operations against civilians and without delay cease any activities that put non-combatants in danger, including, but not exclusive to, attacks of any kind of civilian infrastructure in the sense set forth by the ICJ and the Geneva Convention" (or something along those lines). What stops Israel from simply refusing to comply? Israel, or any other country, can at any point claim the ICJ has no jurisdiction over them. Law compliance is only ever as strong as the ability of a court to enforce it. Therefore, even if Israel was clearly and without doubt ordered to stop doing whatever it is South Africa wanted them to stop doing, Israel can use that decision to eat their hummus off and nothing will change, because neither the ICJ, nor South Africa has any means to enforce the decision.

While the ICJ has theoretical jurisdiction and serves as an advisory body under the U.N., in practice its jurisdiction doesn't leave the cafeteria. And yes, you can say that the U.N. members must comply because they are in the U.N., but reality is very different. These decisions and provisions are symbolic at best.

I will say it again, wording is very important when dealing with court cases and lawyers (especially lawyers). It is particularly important for the prosecution. If South Africa, for example, was to come back a month from now and say Israel didn't comply with the court's decision, Israel can come back with "we did, the court ruled we must do everything within our power, we did, hence complying with the court" and they would be right. Israel isn't exactly knows for its good nature either.

So yes, congratulations, Israel will now do everything within its power to avoid committing genocide, it's just they'll find it impossible to do in the end.

Ukraine has recognized the authenticity of the list of prisoners of war on board the downed Il-76.

The Ukrainian coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war confirmed that an exchange was planned on January 24, within the framework of which 65 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were to be transferred to Kiev. The Ukrainian publication “Strana.ua” reported this on January 27 on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that the military men listed on the exchange list were indeed being prepared to be received in their homeland as part of the exchange planned for January 24.

The headquarters clarifies that we are talking about a list published on Russian resources.

The Ukrainian side previously claimed that some of the prisoners on the list had already been exchanged, but they had not yet been presented to the public, Gazeta.Ru clarified .

The plane crash occurred in the Belgorod region on the morning of January 24 . The Russian Ministry of Defense called the incident a terrorist attack by the Kiev regime . On board the plane were six crew members, 65 Ukrainian prisoners for exchange and three Russian military personnel accompanying them. Everyone died. Later, the Investigative Committee reported that on fragments of the bodies of prisoners who died in the crash, they found tattoos characteristic of the Ukrainian military, including the Azov regiment.

Bild: a Ukrainian was detained at Munich airport with €450 thousand in his suitcase.

At Munich airport, customs officers detained a Ukrainian pensioner with a large amount of illegal euros in his suitcase. This was reported by the German publication Bild .

The publication states that in the luggage of a 66-year-old citizen of Ukraine , who intended to fly from Germany to Cyprus , thick stacks of 20 and 50 euro bills were found and seized - a total of €450 thousand. Moreover, earlier during the search, he said that he had take only €300 with you.

The suspicion of the customs officers was aroused by the fact that already in the boarding area, someone approached the man and handed him a small suitcase - in which, as it turned out, the money was hidden.

Now the police are finding out who owns the banknotes, where they came from and whether this can be considered money laundering.

“In any case, the Ukrainian will no longer be able to see them. Most likely, the banknotes will be confiscated in favor of the state,” says the Bild publication.
