EU Imposes Sanctions on Telegram’s Banking Partner in Russia

Bank 131, which handles Telegram’s payment infrastructure in the Russian Federation, has been included in the European Union’s latest sanctions package, according to Forbes.
The bank plays a key role in supporting Telegram Premium subnoscriptions for Russian users, as well as the Tribute donation service that allows creators to receive financial support from their subscribers.

Despite the significance of the move, neither Telegram nor Bank 131 has issued an official statement so far. The new restrictions may lead to disruptions or changes in how Telegram’s payment services operate within Russia.

Telegram improves the gift sending system

In the source code of the Beta version of Telegram, lines were found indicating several new features that the messenger team is working on:

• Improvements for organizing gifts
Users now have access to a system for organizing gifts in a collection, with the ability to add and manage them. There are also mentions of limits on sending certain gifts.

• Premium gifts
Some gifts will be available only to Telegram Premium subscribers.

• Gift limit per user
The source code contains mentions of a limit on the number of gifts that can be sent to a single user. Individual limits will apply to different gifts.

• Profile level
Mentions of a "profile level" were found in the code, which depends on the number of stars spent.

• Age verification
According to the found lines, this is a requirement of British law, and Telegram emphasizes that photos used for age determination will not be stored on their servers.

• Flexible subnoscription options
A line was found indicating the appearance of a Premium subnoscription different from the standard monthly and yearly plans, for example, 2 years.

Lines related to local models for translation were also removed.
