Giving the underclass the illusion that they could fight back against the state because they have "the right to bear arms" is an absolutely brilliant leftist trick. Bravo!

But please just let sanity rule again by taking away the guns and declaring that "the people" have no power, influence, or importance from your perspective.

In the final analysis, "rights" just end up being a maskirovka that lulls you into a false sense of security that then allows you to be manipulated more efficiently. As Arthur said, giving citizens the "right" to overthrow the government by force basically ensures that they will never do so. It makes the concept diffuse and abstract and impossible to act on, while the fantasy of acting on it keeps people lulled. The US government is a continent-sized human meat grinder. That's what it is and what it does. If "rights" meant anything, and people had the ability to act on them, the abject Aztec Shamanate known as the "United States of America" would have been overthrown by right-thinking men generations ago.

"Rights" are a weird Anglo-Saxon concept that don't at all make sense (except as a weapon) outside of the very specific context from which they arose. Outside that very specific (and now long gone) context they're basically just a mind virus. To be honest, even in their original context, they're hard to defend.
