Rule of thumb: its not because you don't hold free elections that you're a more serious country than everybody else. In fact, not holding elections is more often than not the sign that you have some serious governance problems, which is bad if you intend to…
"But Cody, my country have... let's say cultural or geopolitical issues where let's say democracy wouldn't give very practicable results"
OK, but then focus on economic development and let other countries alone. If anything focusing on developing yourself for a few decades, even if not immediately developing your military, will on the long run make you more, not less, militarily capable.

🇮🇷🇮🇱🇺🇸 - If Iran absolutely wants to bomb Israeli civilians, at some point the US military will have to step in, I mean realistically, I know many people don't want because of ideological reasons, but... Israel being a place that isn't bombed is Israel being a place where people want to live, Israel being a place where people want to live is Israeli national security, and Israeli national security is a US absolute red line.
🇮🇷🇮🇱 Ok I will give my opinion as an admin, Iran agreeing to a ceasefire with Israel is the ultimate sign of defeat, and obviously it will be breached by Israel just like in Lebanon or Gaza and etc…
Some might be happy, some might be coping and some might be sad but it’s war you always have a winner and loser and Israel clearly won.
Now I believe Iran might face internal tension due to high mossad infiltration, coup by the army, ethnic insurrection and/or popular uprising is definitely a possibility and the Iranian government will fall for better or worse.

🇺🇸 - I think that Trump striking Iran was the final nail in the coffin for the "new political reality" to consolidate. In the 24h following the strike we have had SCOTUS telling Trump speedy deportations to third countries was legal, and a Federal Reserve decision ending the analysis of "reputationnal risk" for banks. Trump is being rewarded by the system for his good behavior.

🇺🇸 - Basically Luttwak's coup handbook came out circa 1968 and was used by many African dictators to launch coups. Its a book that described factually how to stage military coups, without inciting people to launch such but clearly being taught of as coup 101.
Levitski and Ziblatt are 2 liberals from Harvard. They've launched a book called "how democracy dies" which explains how democratic backsliding happens, how democracy fades away in authoritarianism, and most importantly gives no real pro-democracy solution beyond "orange man bad". Guess what? All of the serious Trump folks read those books and what happened after is of no surprise.
