Anti-French sentiment, which was widespread in Africa, resulted in mass rallies in Mali during these hours.
The protesters brought anti-French posters to the demonstration, as well as a portrait of French President Emmanuel Macron, which disgruntled citizens pelted with eggs. On one of the posters "Makron the killer" and a swastika to boot.
In the crowd, one can see the national flags of Mali, images of the country's leader Assimi Goit, as well as the Russian tricolor and portraits of Richard Wagner. The mention of the German composer at a rally in the capital of the African Republic is associated with Russian instructors, who in the West are usually referred to as Wagner PMCs.

🇫🇷📉 FRANCE'S WORST TRADE DEFICIT IN ITS HISTORY RECORDED IN 2021
France announced on February 8 the worst trade deficit in its history in 2021, due to high energy prices and to imports larger than exports. In the red for nearly 20 years, France's trade deficit is now Europe's worst performer.
The deficit has widened to 84.7 billion euros, customs reported. A figure significantly higher than the previous record of 2011, which was 75 billion. The balance of trade is plagued mainly "by energy, and to a lesser extent, by manufactured goods" said the customs in their statement.
"A positive dynamic is at work", says the Minister of Foreign Trade, Franck Riester. "In the majority of sectors, excluding automotive and aerospace, we have managed to erase the crisis by exceeding the export performances of 2019."
France's share of exports of goods and services from the euro zone is now around 13.5%, its lowest level in twenty years. At the global level, it stands at around 3%.
