LinkedIn is in general a very odd place to search for a job, but it's even worse than I thought:

They add hidden skills for you. Those skills are not visible in your profile, but they are used when someone is searching for candidates or when you are searching for a job.

In my case, API and OOP are clearly not relevant to my job, but who cares, if by adding these hidden skills LN makes money — by showing me promoted programming jobs.

I would not be mad if those skills would appear in my profile, so I can simply delete them as irrelevant ones. But the only way to remove them is to contact the support. Those skills are just not among ones you can edit.
