Just in case you were looking for video editing software, DaVinci Resolve 20 got actually usable, even the free version — it's now fast, mostly reliable, and simplified enough to be good for YouTube edits.

And no, I could not recommend 18 and previous versions, since they were not accelerated well, created huge proxy files, and so on. Now the paid tier is a must for several extra features, like denoiser and collaborative workflows.

But even free version now can run almost any reasonable codec without proxies, can do tons of effects on a consumer-grade card without any lags, and so on. I still hate hotkeys, there are obvious usability bugs, but overall, it's a huge step forward (at least on Windows).

A useful batch-processing plugin for GIMP 3 (since BIMP is limited to GIMP 2.x): it can do tons of stuff on folders and file queues and runs very fast, since it's relying on GIMP acceleration.

The noscript can be as complex as you dare to make it, like running certain actions on certain layers, like "blur on current layer".

The rise of LLMs is only a part of the issue. The biggest deal was the extremely toxic and conservative community:

Active replies were insulting, but also often outdated — ignoring new features and environments. Because of that even before AI Reddit and some other UGC platforms started to gain traction for developers to discuss their issues.

What a story to tell: the kid vibe coded an insanely big Godot protect in several months. He never used version control and eventually was suggested to use Terrain3D.

He got it the wrong way and not the version for his Godot. So his whole project got broken. Yet again: 11 months, no version control.

Now he acts even crazier on Reddit, arguing with people and holy fuck, he USES AI TO REPLY TO PEOPLE ABOUT THE ISSUE AI LED HIM TO.

Crazy enough: I believe it has to be marked, but it has not be stigmatized the same way as genAI in AAA games. Steam already allows to set several different types of AI-use cases disclosed in the denoscription + a paragraph of custom text.
