Millions have established accounts with crypto exchanges, started to learn crypto trading, created and use wallets, transfer and swap crypto assets.

On May 16, 2024 when Notcoin was listed on major exchanges and millions of people got a share of almost a billion dollars, it looked like we were in the beginning of the golden era of GameFi (and Telegram, NOT, TON, other Apps).

Hundreds of projects emerged and tens of millions of people worldwide joined the growing number of GameFi Apps. Especially, it was important due to the fact that in some places of the world making a few thousand dollars from Notcoin taps was a life changer.

And then….

And then the largest projects on the market such as Hamster and Tapswap had indefinitely postponed their listings, engaging instead in monetizing their subscribers through means such as YouTube. This type of monetization instead of a crypto listing provided return only to developers and not to the vast subscribers community.

Now millions of people needed to watch endless YouTube videos in exchange for worthless in-game rewards with vague tokenomics or even clear idea that the listing would actually happen at a certain date.

Older projects such as Hot and FuelMining (do you remember them?) seem to have totally forgotten about listings as well. It appears as though, the subscribers are needed to sell them something (usually something useless).

The new projects were popping up daily, attracting million-subscriber communities, who were obliged to do more and more social tasks with no real market valued payment for their time and activity.

For those who have started “mining hot” in February, it is already 6 months of every day tasks for nothing. Instead, more and more assignments are appearing.

What does it do to the overall GameFi industry?

It ruins its essence – creates frustration and mistrust. Many people have already lost their interest and dropped out in disbelief.

At the same time, if we look back at May 16, we may notice, that the market does like the tap-to-earn projects, as Notcoin had gained a market cap of over 2 billion dollars at its peak.

The question is, why are there no more projects after Notcoin, whicht airdrip 90% of their coins to their subscribers, without making them watch YouTube videos, share tweets, Facebook and TikTok?

Actually, it doesn’t really matter why the newcomers are not willing to widely share crypto with their users as long as there comes a project that will.

And this is because the market has finite funds rather than infinite amounts it would allocate to certain industries. There won’t be tens of trillions USDt pumped into Tap-To-Earn (and similar large auditory airdrop projects). But some number is likely to be achievable. And the value may be on the order of 5 or 10 or 20 billiion USDt spread out across all those projects who manage to claim it.

So, that being said, where are we now?

Now, we have a GameFi frustration stage and either a new ✌️ Notcoin will emerge, or the GameFi industry will slow bleed to eternity.
