After communicating with Holmseth by email Staubs telephoned him and began to discuss the HaLeigh Cummings investigation. Staubs was providing private investigative services to HaLeigh's maternal family. He was also working with the missing child's mother's attorney,Kim Picazio. When Staubs telephoned Holmseth he seemed nervous and overly talkative. He began to tell Holmseth about a lot of bad behavior that was occurring amidst the search for the missing child.
