🏳️❌🏴 — JNIM carried out an assault on an Islamic State Sahel base in Tasmakatt, Oudalan province in northern Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 today, near the border with Mali, casualties on either side unknown so far.

🏴❌🇳🇬🇳🇬 —Update on Operation Desert Sanity IV of the Nigerian army against ISWAP territory in the Timbuktu Triangle.

➡️ ISWAP claims that in the 10 days of the offensive (16th January to the 26th), More than 130 Nigerian soldiers were killed and injured in battles with the group in the Algarno forests, including a 'Brigade General', and 12 vehicles were destroyed.

➡️ After the withdrawal of the Nigerian army, ISWAP militants captured 2 militiamen fleeing and managed to get one of the phones of the soldiers, which captured the intense battles and the moment the SVBIED blew up on their gathering (at the very end of the video).

➡️ ISWAP also states the fighting was concentrated on 4 axes, Damboa, Benicheikh, Buni and Goniri (mapped), and that after the 10th day of the offensive all Nigerian troops retreated to Maiduguri and their 'supercamps'.

➡️ The Nigerian army on their side have been eerily quiet since their last update 4 days ago, while ISWAP hinted at Nigerian soldiers defecting and joining the group instead, and announces an open threat that they will 'snatch the cities themselves from their clutches'.
