Earlier this week, the "Doghmush" gang of northern Gaza had assassinated Mohammad Imad Aqel, the son of a Senior Commander in the AlQassam Brigade. In response, Hamas's Ministry of Interior had issued a warning statement, demanding the surrender of the syndicate.

Following the refusal to surrender, Hamas's "Sahm/Arrow" unit had launched a sweeping operation in northern Gaza's 'AlSabra', killing 25 and arresting more than 60 wanted individuals. [1]

During the clashes, the syndicate had taken the popular social media activist and journalist Saleh alJaafarawi as hostage, and proceeded to execute him. [2]

Hamas has taken complete control of the area, and the syndicate has been neutralized.
