In 2021, a senior Iranian government official and part-time head of the anti-Israel unit in the Islamic Republic, whose duties included countering Israeli intelligence operations, was an agent of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad. This was stated by former Iranian President Ahmadinejad (2005-2013) in an interview with CNN Turk.
