The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released a fact sheet on global military expenditure for 2024. The report reveals that world military expenditure rose to $2.718 billion in 2024, a 37% increase from 2015 and the steepest year-on-year rise since 1988. This growth is attributed to increased spending in Europe, driven by the Russia-Ukraine war, and in the Middle East, driven by regional conflicts. The report examines regional and national military expenditure data for 2024 and trends over the decade 2015-2024.
