Aksai Chin, Xinjiang and the Nepal angle
▪️As we all know, Aksai-Chin is part of Ladakh which is under Chinese occupation.
▪️Till 1933, China recognised it to be a part of Ladakh and thus a part of Jammu Kashmir princely state.
▪️Later on China changed its stance and called it a part of Xinjiang province and based on that, claimed it, occupied it in 1950s, and eventually in war of 1962, consolidated its position in it.
▪️The main reason China need Aksai Chin is, Tibet is largely a high altitude mountainous terrain. Compared to rest of the Tibet, Aksai Chin has relatively flatter terrain, and is more suitable for a highway they buil, to connect Lhasa and Kashgar (Xinjiang province capital)
▪️Thus they built G219 highway for this purpose, passing through Aksai Chin, thus adding another stake to the dispute.

▪️While Indian side is ready for a neutral survey and renegotiation of the borders, Now that they already have the desired territory, its nearly impossible to bring China to the border negotiations table.
▪️But there is a way for us to force the Chinese for settling our borders.
▪️The main reason China fears India is that India may put a pressure on and block G219 highway.
▪️If India has its forces on Sino-Nepal borders, it is noticeable that the minimum distance from that border to the Lhasa Kashgar highway, is 50-60 km. In fact, the straight line distance between Hilsa district in Nepal and G219 highway is between 24-30 km
▪️And given the high altitudes, watching over the highway, we will be easily able to dominate it and neutralise the Chinese advantage in keeping Aksai Chin.

▪️If India has to take the lost territories back from China, the only way, with minimal bloodshed, goes through Nepal.
▪️What China did to Tibet, India will have to do to Nepal.
▪️China ruled by Qing dynasty, first entered Tibet in 1720, to help them expel Dzunghar mongol invaders.
▪️Then in 1728, there was a civil war in Tibet, and the Qing army marched into Lhasa
▪️Since then Tibet became a Chinese protectorate
▪️Eventually the Chinese control over Tibet, began to wane with time.
▪️In 1911, Tibet declared independence from Qing China
▪️In 1951, Tibet was totally annexed by China.
