80ish games into my Gnar journey I have some Questions.
Ok so I've been playing Gnar for a bit now, have 100k mastery points on him which isn't a lot but it's been enough for me to notice a pattern. I'm happy with how the late laning phase, mid and late game are going, at least for my elo rating it's not the worst. But very consistently I am getting killed within the first 3 levels. Gnar's the only rangie that I play and I think this problem comes from a misconception that I have about his strengths and weaknesses. Ranged top tend to be lane bullies that need to get ahead early to win because they naturally get outscaled by virtue of griefing their team comp. The way I've been playing gnar is trying to poke enemies level 1 and often getting my transformation by level 2/3 but the thing is that firstly Gnar's level 1 damage is non-existant. I can sink 5 autos into the enemy champ and they're still full health. Most games I come back from the early int around level 9 to 10 with a big mega gnar all in becausehe's just that strong and there's not that much the enemy can do when they're pinned against the wall and repeatedly tanking point blank boulders.
Re-reading this post it's a bit wordy and doesn't make too much sense but my question is basically do you agree that Gnar's early levels suck or am I just playing it wrong. As a follow-up, considering the range advantage how much of a cs lead do you need for the lane to be a success for you? On my other mains Fiora is happy to go even because she outscales almost anyone although she has the ability to be strong early and Gragas let's himself get bullied until lost chapter spike. I've been playing Gnar as if leaving lane with anything below a 40 cs lead is losing because that's my conception of ranged characters but now I'm thinking he may be in a similar boat to Fiora and Gragas who are either happy to leave lane even or have the ability to be really racist in lane but just need to sacrifice the first couple waves. There's not much Gnar content on youtube so it's a bit hard to answer these questions myself.
By the way in terms of the build do you ever stack wit's end and merc treads? They kinda fulfill the exact same niche of tenacity + magic resist but you do get diminishing returns from stacking tenacity. In heavy cc and magic comps is it ever the play to go swifties + wit's end, or drop the sterak's for a FoN?

Has anyone seen the black la illusion gnar chroma in the mythic rotation before?
Basically noscript, I found out that it's possible through the weekly rotations to see it in the shop and wondered if anyone had seen it before.

Why does Dr.Mundo scale far better than Gnar according to lolalytics?
https://lolalytics.com/lol/gnar/vs/drmundo/build/?tier=all&patch=30
So I have fought against several Mundo players recently and thought he fell off lategame because he had no cc or engage.
I moreso focused on farming than harassing, but every time late game happend, he was always outperforming me. Thought I was doing something wrong, but the stats show him scaling much better than Gnar.
Why is that? What makes him scale so much better? Every melee champion has the problem of getting perma kited by the adc and support if they are good enough, so it shouldn't matter how tanky Mundo is.

I miss frozen mallet
I'm really tired of the Tryforce build, I miss playing with Frozen Mallet + Black Cleaver.
Tryforce is strong, but boring, it doesn't offer any effects, just damage.

Gnar Jungle Itemization Discussion
I'm revisiting Gnar jungle with a lot of success so far this season, but trying to work out optimized builds into different picks. I've seen some Gnar jungle mains in Plat ranked, so I know it can be solid in the right hands.
Trinity -> BC -> Steraks is goated and works decently in the jungle, but runs into some problems:
It's harder to predict where enemy Xin Zhao/Briar will come from (or when), and poor timing or aggressive counter-jungling can be rough in some matchups
Gnar jungle is more about quick engagements rather than lane pressure.
I often discover I'm the only one capable of front-lining on my team
For these reasons, I find myself wanting alternative -- more tanky -- optional builds. The following items feel decent and have good win rates, but there sample size is too small to reliably predict whether they're solid upgrades or not.
What are the best items in the jungle?
Titanic Hydra
Heartsteel
Sundering Sky
Jak'sho / Randuins Omen / etc tank items
Jak==Best overall?
Possible Alternatives to standard or tank items:
BotRK, Bandlepipes, Serpent's Fang, Hextech Gunblade, etc
Recently I've ran Berserkers rush -> Titanic -> Steraks -> Overlord's Bloodmail and it felt really good. Thoughts?
Gnar Jungle Mains:
Plat 3, 57% win rate: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/summoner/euw/naderz-8344
Plat 3, 54% win rate: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/summoner/na/Gnarmai-NA1

Gnar plush always out of stock?
I've been wanting to buy the normal Gnar plush for a while now but it has been out of stock for at least a year, probably even 2 at this point. I was starting to think it isn't coming back. But now it's 36% off without ever coming back in stock for some reason? Does anyone know what is going on here?
