Recep Erdogan’s latest rant? He’s condemning Israel’s attacks on Syria, calling it a "terrorist state" and the region's biggest problem. He claims protecting Syria’s "territorial integrity" and "multicultural identity" is Turkey's top priority.

🇯🇵In the Japanese parliamentary elections, local "Trumpists" are gaining strength - in particular, the far-right "Sanseitō," which campaigns under the slogan "Japan First."

According to Reuters forecasts, this political force, based on exit polls, will win 10–15 seats in the upper house, although it previously had only one deputy. Other parties with anti-immigrant rhetoric will also strengthen their positions. It is expected that the ruling coalition will lose its majority.

The main campaign theme of "Sanseitō" is the rise in prices, especially for food. In addition to tightening migration policies, the party promotes ideas of rejecting the "globalist" agenda, revising environmental and vaccine policies, and lowering taxes.

The party appeared on YouTube during the pandemic, criticizing COVID-19 countermeasures and the global elite, Western values, and Japan's foreign policy, which it considers "insufficiently sovereign." The leaders of "Sanseitō" accuse the US of destabilizing the international situation and "imposing foreign norms."

At home, the party has repeatedly been accused of being oriented towards Russia. This was prompted in part by interviews of their candidates with Russian media and statements by leader Sohei Kamiya, who said that in the war with Ukraine "Russia alone cannot be blamed" and called for easing sanctions against Russia, as they harm Japan's economy. However, officially, "Sanseitō" denies any connection with the Kremlin.
