✡️👐 Top Israeli cyber official arrested in Las Vegas for child sex crimes but allowed to escape to Israel

Tom Alexandrovich, acting head of the Israeli National Cyber Directorate’s data & AI division, was detained by Las Vegas police this week along with seven others in a multi-agency operation targeting online child predators.

Alexandrovich, 38, was arrested and slapped with “luring a child with computer for sex act” charges, but according to Israeli media, was released from custody and allowed to return to Israel.

🔊 The Israeli prime minister’s office said Alexandrovich “traveled to the US for professional matters,” but claimed he was not arrested, “and returned to Israel as scheduled.”

The “professional matters” in question were ostensibly the Black Hat Briefings cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas.

After his arrest, Alexandrovich’s LinkedIn profile was scrubbed. The INCD says he has been put on leave.

👁 Responsible for cyberthreat intelligence and active defense measures, the INCD reports directly to the Israeli PM, and plays a key role in Israel’s cyberwar against Iran and other adversaries.

👁 Alexandrovich reportedly played a “key role” in “designing and building” Israel’s Cyber Dome, ostensibly meant to “protect civilian cyberspace” using AI. He has also played an “advisory role” to “various government bodies” and institutions, from critical infrastructure to election systems.
