100s of thousands US troops still not adhered to vaccine mandates as deadline nears
US military branches are struggling to meet looming jab mandate deadlines as 100s of thousands still remain short of full vaccination - with stark contrasts between each service’s uptake.
The Army Guard and Reserve - about a quarter of the entire military with over 522k members - has just 40% vaccination, compared to 90% of active-duty Navy and 72% of Marines.
Katherine L. Kuzminski, a military policy expert at Washington think tank Center for a New American Security, cast doubt on the June 30, 2022 deadline for all US military to be fully vaccinated.
"The Army's policy is incentivizing inaction until the latest possible date. The way we've seen the virus evolve tells us looking out to June 30 may need to be reconsidered,"
