US pips China to top Bitcoin mining destination for first time ever

For the first time ever, the US is now the destination of choice for Bitcoin miners after a massive upturn in American mining activity since last September, when China held about 67% of the global mining market.

According to data from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, around 35% of Bitcoin hashrate - a measure of mining power - comes from the US, representing a 428% increase in a year.

Beijing’s crackdown on cryptocurrencies and the global energy supply chain crisis have shifted attention for Bitcoin miners to the States.

Cargo Crisis: Shipping giant Maersk diverts ships from backlogged UK ports

“Further disruption” to supply chains may be ‘unavoidable’ in the UK after Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping company, began diverting vessels away from Britain's main ports which are full.

The backlog has been caused by a shortage of truck drivers, unavailable to move unloaded containers to free up space for large ships to dock - the same issue that triggered a petrol crisis.

◼️ The measures now communicated by the Canadian government were announced at least since August. Before that, Justin Trudeau also denied - probably against his better knowledge - the possibility of mandatory vaccination.
◼️ By the end of October, all Canadian federal employees - or civil servants - must be "fully vaccinated." As of mid-November, government coercive measures will then take effect against unvaccinated individuals.
◼️ From the end of October, "mandatory vaccination" will also apply to all travelers aged 12 or older for rail and air travel in Canada and abroad. Starting in November, this measure will also be enforced by coercion if necessary.

United Airlines pilot files vaccine mandate LAWSUIT against company

David Sambrano, a veteran pilot at United Airlines, is pursuing an injunction to block the company from terminating employees’ contracts or enforcing unpaid leave for not complying with the vaccine mandate on medical or religious grounds.

Sambrano - who has recovered from Covid - argues United’s refusal to offer provisions such as recovery from Covid or negative testing is illegal, and has been denied a religious exemption despite vaccine development using fetal tissue.

United was one of the first airlines to require all employees to be vaccinated, announcing a few weeks ago that 600 employees were set to be fired for not complying.
