Nearly 40% of US Households Face Serious Financial Problems (Report)

The financial constraints afflicting almost 40% of US households in the last few months include struggling to afford food and medical care, according to a survey published this week.

The survey by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health also showed the percentage of households reporting serious financial problems rose to 59% when they had an income under $50,000 a year.

Among those lower-income households, 30% said they had lost all their savings during the coronavirus pandemic. The problems were reported despite 67% receiving govt assistance meant to lessen the financial burden of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jair Bolsonaro has confirmed he will not be getting the jab, having previously said he would be the "last Brazilian" to get inoculated against Covid-19.
