"Gun to our Head:" Polish PM Warns EU Against Road to World War III
Poland has threatened Brussels that it could trigger "the third world war" if it withholds Warsaw funding in a dispute over democratic values within the bloc. Mateusz Morawiecki said we [Poland] will “defend our rights with any weapons which are at our disposal,” in an interview to FT.
Poland has been the biggest net recipient of EU funds - over 200 billion euros ($232 billion) since it joined the bloc in 2004. The rift comes from Poland opting to pursue independence when it comes to media freedoms and LGBTQ rights.
It's reported Poland could go against ambitious Green policies set out by the EU as its "weapon." Polish opposition has downplayed the threat of war as "hyperbole."

Nigeria has launched the new digital eNaira, becoming the first sub-Saharan African nation to go with a digital currency - joining the likes of China in piloting a regulated electronic tender.
Citizens in Africa's most populous country have looked to crypto to avoid a weakening currency. Five countries have already launched CBDCs, with another 14 including Sweden and South Korea in the pilot stage. (Atlantic Council)
Earlier this year, Nigeria ordered banks to shutdown accounts involved in crypto transactions but it's claimed many still use it from transactions abroad.
