China copper manufacturer cuts output as power shortages cripple country (Bloomberg reports)
Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co. has been running at 80% capacity as the country’s power supply woes deepened.
The firm wants to avoid holding a glut of sulfuric acid, a by-product from copper smelters that’s typically sold to chemical and fertilizer companies – with curbs expecting to have complex knock-on effects across supply chains.
Beijing had ordered sweeping controls on electricity usage and a rapid expansion of fuel supplies to ease energy shortages - although the power crisis has shown some near-term signs of easing, with fewer provinces suffering significant shortages, according to BloombergNEF.

Terrifying Tornado DESTRUCTION - Texas, Louisiana, NE ravaged by multiple twisters
News crews and social media footage show the horrifying chaos strewn by tornadoes ripping out power lines, tossing roofs and trees and injuring at least one person across Texas and Louisiana.
Devastation spread right up the Eastern seaboard, as over half a million customers in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island were left without power by a bomb cyclone, which exploded a transformer and sent balls of fire shooting down power lines.
One woman’s home in Texas was half-crushed by a massive tree while she was inside, but she fortunately survived.
