I taught this for 20 yrs. Neither McCain, Obama, Cruz, Rubio, Jindhal, Hailey, George Romney and others weren’t/ aren’t NBC’s. Natural born citizenship is a subset of native born. The US code lists 3 types of citizenship: naturalized, native born & natural born. The latter definition goes back to Ancient Rome and is part of Natural Law. Thus, “natural born.”

The Founders changed the first version of Article 2 from citizen to “natural born citizen” to ensure as best as possible total allegiance to the USA. They relied heavily on Vattel’s “ Law of Nations” which cites again the definition of natural born citizenship. The first generation of POTUS were grandfathered in as NBC’s if they were alive when the Constitution was written.
ALL SCOTUS decisions have only recognized ONE definition of natural born citizenship: Born in the US to two citizen parents (jus Solis & jus sanguine). The clearest decision on this is Minor vs. Happersett, in which Minor, an early suffragette, argues that if the 14th Amendment granted her citizenship, then she should have the right to vote by virtue of the 15th. However, SCOTUS declared her to be a natural born citizen in which citizenship is not derived from the 14th Amendment (since perverted to convey birthright citizenship under the Gray court). SCOTUS itself has declared it has never been responsible for having defined natural born citizenship — only recognizes the definition from elsewhere, IOW “ex- Constitutional. “

Not the 14th Amendment, any of the Naturalization Acts of 1795, 1800 etc., or any act of Congress bestows natural,born citizenship.

All other citizenship can be taken away, but NOT natural born citizenship. It can be renounced. If one later tries to restore it, that person then becomes a naturalized citizen.

Democrats like McCaskill tried repeatedly over the years to change this provision in Article 2, but it has never succeeded. It takes an Amendment to the Constitution. The election of 2008, listing both ineligible candidates, was an initial overthrow of the US. An illegal POTUS renders the Executive branch illegal and the entire govt.

The population has been ill,informed over the years that people equate native born with natural born. Harris is also basically an anchor baby and not eligible. Neither of her parents were US citizens, and she was primarily raised in Canada.

Other countries also require a President or head of govt. to be an NBC. Egypt is one.
