Hackers Publish Vestas Data Following Ransomware Attack

Hackers behind last month’s cyberattack on Vestas, the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, have published a portion of the compromised data online, according to a statement from the Danish company.

The stolen data includes information embedded in identification documents and in some cases social security numbers, medical certificates plus bank account details. Vestas is advising customers and business partners to “stay vigilant.”

The attack, which took place on Nov. 19, forced Vestas to shut down its IT systems for two days “as a precaution.” The company has not revealed the hackers responsible, nor whether the cyberattack involved ransomware.

Israel Holds Global Financial System Cyber-Attack Simulation (Reuters)

A group of 10 nations led by Israel have conducted a 10-day cyber-attack simulation on the IMF which included creating fake news to spark chaos in worldwide markets.

Israeli govt officials insisted that real events mirrored in the simulation require global cooperation because “attackers are 10 steps ahead of the defender”.

Treasury officials from the US, the UK, the UAE, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Thailand took part alongside World Bank and IMF representatives.

NY AG Seeks Donald Trump’s Deposition as Part of Civil Fraud Probe

New York State Attorney General Leticia James is demanding Donald Trump give evidence in a fraud investigation into his real estate company Trump Organisation for a Jan. 7 deposition.

The probe will investigate whether widespread fraud “permeated” his eponymous real estate company, by using different valuations of the same property for different purposes - such as applying for loans versus paying real estate taxes. (WaPo)

The frmr. president has not been personally charged with any crime, but if he refuses to comply with Ms James’ office’s demand that he appear for a deposition, he can be taken to a court and forced to appear by judicial order.
