Chemical Giant Bayer Hoping Biden Admin Digs it out of Multibillion-Dollar Cancer Cases
The US Supreme Court could put an end to thousands of cases against Bayer AG claiming the company’s top-selling weedkiller, Roundup, causes cancer. (Bloomberg)
Bayer - which inherited the legal mess from Monsanto - is challenging a $25 million case awarded to a California man who successfully sued the company over his diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma - due to decades of Roundup use.
The German drug giant argues the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act shields the company from liability on its products that fall under that denoscriptive umbrella.
Scotus is now seeking advice from the White House over whether it should allow an appeal.
