Jussie Smollett SUED By Chicago & Accomplices

Following the jury’s guilty verdict on 5 out of 6 charges of felony disorderly conduct, Jussie Smollett is now facing a civil suit from the city of Chicago seeking $130,000. This amount would be separate from any financial penalties the court might impose on Smollett at his sentencing, as each charge of felony disorderly conduct carries a maximum $25,000 fine, in addition to up to 3 years in prison.
Though Smollett still insists on his innocence, city officials are hoping to recoup the costs that were spent evaluating Smollett’s allegations of a hate crime in 2019. Specifically, the Chicago Police Department reports that 1,836 overtime hours were logged during the investigation, which a court has now confirmed centered around lies told by Smollett.
And unfortunately for the actor, his legal woes do not end there. The Nigerian Osundairo brothers who were paid to help Smollett stage the hate hoax have filed their own defamation suit against him, claiming that the case caused damage to their reputations and hurt future career prospects.
Of particular note in the suit is the allegation made by Smollett’s defense team that one of the brothers, Abimbola, was at one point engaged in a homosexual relationship with Smollett. As the suit reads, “Same-sex sexual activity is illegal in Nigeria, which can result in 14 years of imprisonment [...] Ms. Glandian's globally broadcasted statements that Bola Osundairo is homosexual endangers him and the lives of his Nigerian family."

Dozens of truck drivers blocked Dublin Port on Monday in protest of growing fuel costs, driver shortages, rising taxes and other operating costs.
Tensions at the port were evident as one of the truckers was pulled away from a truck by law enforcement.
Up to 40 vehicles are believed to have taken part in the protest, according to authorities. Large traffic jams were reported in the port area as a result.

ICYMI: Twitter reportedly bans accounts that claim vaxxed people spread Covid
The platform has updated its “misleading information policy” to impose new sanctions on vaccine 'misinformation', including claims that they “will cause you to be sick, spread the virus, or would be more harmful than getting Covid-19.”
The new policy would hypothetically put the company at odds even with the CDC, whose website states “vaccinated people can still become infected and have the potential to spread the virus to others.”
Twitter added accounts can be permanently suspended for Covid misinformation, even if they don’t have strikes against them.

European Gas Prices Jump as Supply Crunch Risks Extending to NEXT Winter (Bloomberg)
European gas prices surged as much as 5.9% Tuesday after closing at a record level on Monday - with tensions between Russia and Ukraine threatening to extend this year’s crunch into next winter.
Europe was already facing an energy supply shortage before geopolitical tensions flared up, a move that could further delay the start of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Benchmark European gas prices traded in the Netherlands jumped to €122.92 a megawatt-hour, the highest since early October, when prices ballooned as much as 40% in just one day.
