Tens of millions of refugees may be denied a Covid vaccination as massive manufacturers worry about legal repercussions from possible side effects, with only 7% of people in low-income countries having received a dose. (Reuters)
Many pharmaceutical companies have sought legal protection from governments, but where citizens are not covered by their country’s vaccination program there is none, and minimal doses have been supplied.
It is estimated 167mn people are at risk from being excluded in this way with over 40 countries still not willing to cover refugees in this vaccination programs, with only three Chinese companies - SinoVac Biotech, Sinopharm Group and Clover - willing to shoulder legal responsibilities as things stand.
