Poland Pegasus: NSO software hacks opposition duo
A lawyer and prosecutor representing Polish opposition had their phones hacked with NSO software. One of them had their device attacked 18 times in just 4 months. (Internet watchdog Citizen Lab)
Govt officials would neither confirm nor deny their suspected involvement in deploying the Israeli spyware to snoop on Roman Giertych and Ewa Wrzosek in the final weeks of the 2019 parliamentary elections.
Poland’s anti-corruption agency allegedly spent a reported $8mn on phone spyware over two years, claims that were officially denied. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said it will “be clarified in due time.”
