ICEMAGEDDON: Alaska baked by record December temperature & power outages
Alaska has registered a record-high December temp. of 19.4°C, sparking the fiercest mid-winter storm since 1937 in the Fairbanks area - with unprecedented snowfall and icy roads.
So much snow fell in Delta Junction (153km from Fairbanks) that the roof of the town’s only grocery store collapsed.
Widespread power outages have been reported too due to the unseasonal precipitation.

CDC director Rochelle Walensky has told CNN the agency halved asymptomatic isolation guidelines from 10 to 5 days, as it feared people were not isolating.
Walensky added estimates show less than a third of Americans were isolating when they should have, saying "they would not necessarily tolerate being home and they may not comply with being home."
Her words echoed Anthony Fauci, who had told MSNBC "we don't have to have the draconian decision of shutting down the country" on Tuesday.
