WWII-Era Masonic Archive Amassed by Nazis Offers 'Mine of Information'

“One of the biggest Masonic archives in Europe” is open to researchers and other visitors in Poland’s Poznan.

Gathered under the orders of the SS chief Heinrich Himmler, the archive features some 80,000 items from the 17th century till pre-WWII times. The items were seized by the Nazis from smaller masonic lodges across Europe, the oldest one being prints of documents related to the Rosicrucian movement. The collection is yet to be fully examined and "still holds mysteries," according to curator Iuliana Grazynska.

Himmler’s archive is a tribute to Nazis “hating” the Freemasons, according to its longtime manager Andrzej Karpowicz, who described it as "a mine of information in which one can dig at will."
