India STRIPS Twitter of liability protection for user content!
A Delhi court used strict new IT laws to tear away Twitter’s liability protection for harmful content posted by users, citing the Big Tech giant’s lack of respect for India’s “law of the land”.
“How long does your process take? If Twitter thinks it can take as long as it wants in our country, I’ll not allow that,” asked Delhi’s High Court Justice after the position for head of community complaints in India has remained vacant since 21 June.
The new regulations came into force in May, demanding that harmful content in breach of India’s guidelines MUST be removed within 36 hours.
