German think tank chief ARRESTED on charges of spying for CHINA (Report)
Named only as Klaus L, prosecutors have accused the 75-year-old suspect of leading a “double life” - providing the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) for 50 years, while also supplying China with intel for almost a DECADE. (ARD)
Klaus L was known publicly as a political scientist, working for a political research foundation closely associated with the CSU, the Bavarian sister party of Chancellor Merkel’s Conservatives.
According to the prosecutor’s office, he was recruited in 2010 when he travelled to Shanghai for a lecture and was approached “by members of a Chinese intelligence service.”
The suspect reportedly did not deny he had spied for China when questioned but insisted that he had told the BND about his contact, at least initially.

Hungary’s ANTI-LGBTQ law comes into effect - EU threatens to strip voting rights!
Hungary’s controversial law BANNING the promotion of homosexuality or sex reassignment to schoolchildren has come into force today - and may lead to the EU stripping the country of voting rights in the bloc.
The European Commission and EU parliament have launched a “rule of law” action against Viktor Orban’s govt, which requires four-fifths of Hungary’s 26 EU partners agree “there is a clear risk of a serious breach” of the bloc’s values.
Critics claim the new law threatens to link homosexuality to peadophilia, and comes after Dec 2020 changes to Budapest’s constitution redefined families to exclude same-sex parents - claiming “the mother is a woman and the father is a man.”

Tehran PLUNGED into darkness - Iranian capital suffering severe power grid issues
Most of Tehran was reportedly left without electricity due to problems in the power grid, amidst rising tensions with some citizens captured shouting “DEATH to the dictator, death to Khamenei”.
Power outages have struck government departments, residential and industrial facilities throughout the country, and traffic lights - leading to many kilometers of traffic jams and accidents.
The authorities said that it is impossible to increase the supply of electricity, since all the stations are operating at full capacity.

Russia CUTS dollar COMPLETELY from sovereign wealth fund - boosts Euro & Yuan
Russia’s Finance Ministry confirmed it had eliminated ALL reserves of US dollars from the country’s sovereign wealth fund, switching focus to Euros and Chinese Yuan (up to 39.7% & 30.4% respectively).
The ministry indicated that the yuan and the euro are seen as an alternative to the dollar “as the currencies of Russia’s leading foreign economic partners”, despite the Russian Central Bank (RCB) having reduced Euro assets in May.
This comes two months after the RCB reduced its holdings of USD after new sanctions were imposed, moves which Deputy FM Alexander Pankin claimed “call into question the reliability and convenience of using the American currency as the priority currency of deals.”
