Entire Japanese City’s Private Data Lost After Drunken Night
A tax benefit employee in Japan has lost the entire city’s personal data on a USB memory stick he took from work after passing out following a night of heavy drinking on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old reportedly passed out on the street after drinking for hours, only to find the USB stick, with the tax details, bank account numbers and social security details of the almost 500k population of Amagasaki, had vanished.
City officials claim the stick is encrypted and locked with a password, and there have been no signs so far that anyone has attempted to access the data.
Must have been the mother of all hangovers.
