Russia REJECTS European Court order to recognize SAME-SEX unions.
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Russia had violated its citizens' right to respect for private and family life, saying Russia could give same-sex couples "access to formal acknowledgement of their couples' status in a form other than marriage."
The judges stated "[This] would not conflict with the traditional understanding on marriage" that prevails in Russia.
But Russia has rejected the Stasbourg court's decision.
"The ruling, which tries to make Russia register same-sex marriages, contradicts the foundations of Russian rule of law and morality," said Russian MP Vasily Piskarev in a statement on Telegram. "This is clear systemic meddling in Russia's internal affairs."

Torrential MONSOON rains hit Flagstaff, Arizona on Wednesday, with vehicles being washed away down streets and terrified residents warned to lockdown.
One clip captured the moment fire crews were able to rescue a family stranded on the roof of their vehicle.
A county “shelter in place” order was issued in the area on Wednesday with residents advised to seek higher ground immediately if they were outside.
