⚡️China's BaiDu Reveals Its First Quantum Computer
Chinese internet giant BaiDu has revealed its first quantum computer called Qianshi, equipped with a 10-quantum-bit (qubit) processor. The company also said it has developed a 36-qubit quantum chip.
Despite BaiDu being ready to offer its machine’s capacity to external users, experts say it will have very limited applications in the near future.
The Quantum computing arms race is set to see around $16.4bn invested by governments and companies over the next 5 years alone, with US giants IBM and Google planning 4,000 qubit and 1mn qubit processors by 2025 and 2030 respectively.
