⚡️Taiwan Downs Drone Near Chinese Coast - Defence Ministry

The unidentified commercial drone entered restricted airspace over Lion islet off the Chinese coast on Thursday - and was shot down after warnings were ignored as Taipei vows to crack down on increasing intrusions.

Despite vowing not to escalate tensions - which were sparked after the visit of US House Speaker Nervous Nancy Pelosi and other US officials - President Tsai Ing-wen has been angered by the increase in drones buzzing Taiwan’s coast, and promised “strong countermeasures” against what she calls Chinese provocation.

The ministry also said Beijing has been “using combat drills to carry out simulated attacks on U.S. ships” with a focus on the first island chain that runs from Japan through Taiwan, enclosing China’s coastal seas.
