PORNHUB NO MORE!? German regulators set to BLOCK major porn sites over lack of age verification checks (Report)

German child protection regulators could be on the verge of blocking one of the world’s largest pornographic websites – Pornhub - plus other sites owned by porn conglomerate Mindgeek. (Wired)

The blocking order is the latest salvo by regulators to compel all porn websites available in Germany to implement age verification checks – to which all German states have signed.

Enforcing the block may not be simple, as the regulators expect to meet legal resistance which could drag on for months, even years – internet service providers have also reportedly expressed they are “not happy” with the request.

Questions remain as to how effective a ban would be should it come into place – given the existence of VPNs to circumvent IP blocks.
